Fair use and fraud
Skeepy Pay is for real care, for the pet on the plan, at the price the clinic charges everyone. Anything else is fraud. We refuse the payment, end the plan, recover what was paid, and report it to the police.
1What we count as fraud
- Paying, or trying to pay, a bill with Skeepy Pay that is false, altered or inflated, or a price higher than the clinic charges its other customers for the same care.
- Paying for care that was not given, or not given on the day you say.
- Using a pet's plan for another animal, or sending photos of another animal as the pet on the plan.
- Splitting one visit into several payments, or paying the same bill twice.
- Agreeing with a clinic, a vet or anyone else to do any of these things, or to share what Skeepy Pay pays.
- Giving clinic or bank details that are not genuinely the clinic's, including a personal account presented as a clinic's.
- Giving false information when you join or later: about yourself, your pet, its age, or its health before it joined.
- Using someone else's identity or account, or letting someone use yours.
2Our right to check
Skeepy may check any payment, before or after it is made, and may ask you for more: the bill, the clinic's records, your pet seen by a vet, or proof of who you are. If you do not help with a check, the payment may not be made.
We keep a record of every payment and request. We do not publish how our checks work.
3What happens when we find fraud
- The payment is refused, and any payment not yet made is stopped.
- The pet's plan, and any other plan on the account, is ended without a refund (Terms, section 19.2).
- We recover every naira paid as a result, through the courts if we need to, with our costs where the court allows.
- We report it to the Nigeria Police Force and, where it applies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and we give them our records. Obtaining money by false pretences is a crime in Nigeria that carries a prison sentence.
- Any referral earnings on the account are cancelled.
- The account, and the people behind it, may be barred from Skeepy.
- A clinic involved can no longer be paid with Skeepy Pay, is no longer shown to Skeepers, and may be reported to the Veterinary Council of Nigeria.
4Honest mistakes
An honest mistake is not fraud. If you entered something wrong, tell us as soon as you notice, before you pay if you can. Changing a price or a service in Skeepy Pay before you pay is exactly what the form is for.
If a clinic gives you a bill that looks wrong, do not pay it with Skeepy Pay. Ask the clinic first, or ask us.
5If you see fraud
Write to info@skeepy.co with "Fraud" in the subject, or message us on WhatsApp on +234 903 281 0410. Tell us what you saw. We keep the name of anyone who reports fraud to us private.
6If you think we got it wrong
Write to info@skeepy.co and say why. Someone who did not make the first decision looks at it again and replies within fifteen (15) business days. If you still disagree, the complaints and appeals process applies.
